Japan expected to declare state of emergency

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will speak to experts this afternoon A state of emergency is expected to be announced after that meeting. Japan has 3,600 cases and 85 deaths. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in hospital after suffering 'persistent symptoms'. The news came shortly after the Queen addressed the nation.

Cases in New York - the epicentre of the US outbreak - are dropping for the first time. At his Sunday press briefing, US President Donald Trump said "we see light at the end of the tunnel". But 1,200 people with the virus in the US died in the past 24 hours and the Surgeon General warned of a hard week.
