World shares retreated on Friday after U.S. stocks fell back following President Donald
Trump’s meeting with China’s leader, Xi Jinping. The future for S&P 500 rose 0.6% while that for the Dow Jones was up less than 0.1%. In early European trading, Germany’s DAX slid 0.3% to 24,048.79. Britain’s FTSE 100 shed 0.2% to 9,738.53. In Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.1% to 8,148.20.
Despite Trump and Xi’s agreement to extend a truce in the
trade war between the two largest economies, Chinese markets declined on concerns over persisting tensions between Washington and Beijing.
