China had deployed 1,860 personnel—including troops, police and experts—for eight peacekeeping operations and one political mission as of the end of July, according to U.N. data, making it the largest contributor among the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council: the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Russia.
"Chinese Blue Helmets have become a vital force in the U.N.'s peacekeeping efforts," China's embassy in Washington, D.C., told Newsweek, referring to personnel serving in peacekeeping and adding that such missions advance international peace and security.
