Hong Kong’s last governor, Chris Patten, has written to the city’s leader after she refused to confirm he would not be barred from the territory by Chinese authorities. During a Friday morning radio appearance, which came two days after a prominent British human rights activist was denied entry to the former British colony, Hong Kong’s chief executive, Carrie Lam, was repeatedly asked if Patten might also be turned away.
