Russia and China have different rationales, but both are alarmed by the United States’ confrontational approach toward North Korea. On April 15, 2017, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made an emergency phone call to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss the burgeoningsecurity crisis on the Korean peninsula.
