As an active, long-time member of the National Committee for U.S.-China Relations, I was invited to attend the Seattle dinner held in honor of the visit by China's president, Xi Jinping. It was his seventh visit to the United States since 1985. The trip to Seattle provided an opportunity for Xi to meet with a broad range of U.S. business leaders and state government officials as a way to kick off his visit, which will include a trip to the White House.
